Comments on Samsung D8000 TV – Exclusive first look review from Which?
Forget the laptop tv tuner I was looking for along with my iPhone insurance, I want one of these Samsung D8000 TV’s !
@Gangreen167 Yes it has local dimming. We can’t say how it compares to other models until we’ve had it in our full comparative test . We come up with our picture ratings based on the verdict of a five person panel watching the same material and the same quality signal fed to each tv. Benchmark and reference sets ensure continuity between tests. We’ll have it in the lab as soon as it launches and ad can buy one
@300spartans77 We’re not sure but to be honest contrast ratios are meaningless. Different manufactures measure contrast ratio in different ways, so it’s not comparable across brands. Plus it’s not a linear measurement (so 10000:1 is not ‘twice as good’ as 5000:1). But based on our tests of the c8000 from last year the black levels and White detail will probably be hard to beat
@WhichWebsite Thanks!.. Can’t wait!!
i’ve noticed when watching movie’s on LED tv’s that it seems as the movie has been filmed almost with a hand-held camera. is this to do with refresh rate?
@bkandkr What you’re refering to may well be the motion processing software – which won’t have anything to do with the type of TV it is. What you’re seeing sounds like you’ve got some motion processing software switched on – usually called something like Motion Flow or HD Natural Motion. This will give the illusion of smoother motion but can have some unwanted side-effects, like giving the image a cine camera effect! To get a more natural feel we’ll typically keep it switched off
This question is strictly about input lag on this the new D8000 specifically the 55″ model. Have you tested this with ps3? or any gaming consoles? I’m in Canada and I think your model # is UE55D8000 in Europe but my number here in North America is UN55D8000 does it make any difference or is it just region codes? Will it make any difference whatsoever with input lag performance or any other performance issues of your European model compared to our model? when is your FULL review available?
@marleebrz We doubt whether it will make much difference, but can’t say for sure. We looked at the C8000 last year and didn’t get any real image lag problems. We’ll batch test it as soon as it’s available to buy (March), so expect a full review in May (our tests take 6 weeks)
Is the D8000 plasma the successor to the C7000 plasma line? I’m finding it hard to guesstimate how much the 64″ D8000 plasma is going to be – I’m having a hard time trying to decide between buying a C7000 63″ now or hold out a few months for whatever it’s replacement will be. If it’s only a couple of hundred more then I’d happily wait a while
what are the size’s of D8000 that america is geting
almost no bezel, don’t like that
How about clouding that Samsung never seem to fix? This has been a serious issue for many users. Myself included.Samsung with their panel lottery and their clouding led lcds. I own a led lcd from Samsung from 2010 which I paid much money for, and the picture is awful when the tv gets warm. Especially at night with the lights out. Clouding like ….ll. Can’t replace it either. So it would be nice if you guys could look for clouding. I kind of like the no bezel-style.
The award for dumbest question/comment award goes too @ElliottMan
@300spartans77 dud the contrast ratio on this tv is 25.000.000 to 1 go on samsung .com to see more info they got alot of new info that u want to see about so hope this helps and injoy
55″ -> 100W
Game is over…
It’s amazing, I will buy it! When it comes out in Italy?
@rlaeodnjsdmsWKddla Why? That’s not so much… a plasma uses more.
Great tv
America is getting the 40, 46, 55, and 60 i believe. Im planning on getting the 7000 series its almost the same except for the remote. It runs about 2,876 at best buy
@WhichWebsite lol Panasonic have a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, these manufacturers don’t state because they aren’t as good as Panasonic or Pioneer, and no way in hell is a Samsung TV going to get better blacks than a Panasonic or a Pioneer Kuro.
WHAT ABOUT 60″?? WHEN 60″ WILL BE@ UK
if you play in xbox or ps3 can the tv record wut you are playing and then post it on youtube or a website
Your shirts and ties are awful, go get some nicer clothes to present in.
The remote for this TV is utter crap, I have this TV and the remote is a black plastic brick. Also you can’t connect ANY digital content if you have a Mac, all in all, pretty unimpressed, yeah picture is good but so is it on a whole variety of TVs out there.
What are the differences between C8700 and D8000, apart the aspekt of Smart TV and Design?
