How TV Ruined Your Life – 3. Aspiration – S01E03
Comedy series in which Charlie Brooker uses a mix of sketches and jaw-dropping archive footage to explore the gulf between real life and television. From Dallas to Grand Designs, television continually rubs desirable lifestyles in your face, making you feel inadequate in the process. Warning: contains Sophie Dahl and coffins.

This is one amazing video. XD Gotta love the brits and their humor. The cardboard box at the end was just gut wrenching. XD
hahahahahaah gotta love the english
@SmellsLikeRacing Charlie Brooker’s one of his main influences!

BEST 30 minutes I’ve spent on Youtube!
Public Relations=The “kinder gentler” word for Propaganda.Tel-lie-vision and Joolywood are rife with it.Tel-lie-vision-The Brain Drainer-Boob Tube,Shiny Object,Propaganda Bullshit Machine.And they are EVERYWHERE.From your doctors office waiting room,to resturants,the waiting room at your local car repair shop..EVERYWHERE.
@Overfap I realised that that isn’t stephen fry, becasue i’m an idiot.
Im happy, once again, that i banned the TV from my live 5 years ago.
today is a great day because I found this guy
we can control our selves, it’s not like we are being forced to watch tv
I agree with most of it…except for the part about children because you get annoying kids when you make them sit in front of tv so you can be lazy. It’s the parents’ responsibility to raise children not the television’s.
I agree with this man perfectly.
@strava86 Kinda hard to do when almost every household these days has two working adults, 5-6 days a week….
At 6.50 is he really that angry at the two boys or is it acted? I’m not very good at english.. i didn’t understand well..
@JaydeeVonJ Laugh at the world with him, or consider The Zeitgeist Movement. There’s still hope, you know.
ah ha ha ha he said justin bieber
His insistence that grand designs represents middle classdom is somewhat damaged by the fact that he is a tv presenter/figure and works for the same print media organisation as nigel slater…in short, he’s as middle class are the twats he’s ripping on, the hypocritical git.
@MushroomNr1 I’m assuming there were two shots – one with the old guy, one with the two kids. He shouted at a green screen, and the kids stared at a blank wall. And hopefully the kids haven’t been shown this….
I turned the television off 20 years ago.
@endornify me 3 years ago
(now i am 28 old
)
@epsx I find this series depressing. I forgot how crappy television made me feel.
Unrealistic, hyped up, unfunny laughtrack, goofy crap is what television seems to me. And with regard to “good shows” – pay attention to the products they sell during them.
In another video this guy says “The Wire” is a great show, I’d be curious as to what products they pawn during it.
I detest television. On a related note: If you’re interested, read about Edward Bernays, he created Public Relations.
